I just noticed the problem with changing everything "french" to "freedom" (e.g. freedom fries, freedom toast)

the next time you see an anti-french "freedom fries" idiot, go up to them and say "why do you hate freedom"

you will come down, come down.

i'm looking into other blogger template-adaptable comments features, because i'm really sick of some of the comments on my blog. i'm looking for one that will let me delete one's that are like

to punk for tuning.
current music: bad religion - all good soldiers
mood: pissed off. in a socially acceptable but still punk rock way.

lMadeYouAMixTape (6:38:29 PM): my town is all hardcore and emo with this one band called against the grain that is just so fucking bad...the whole band is potheads so ifigured they just were stoned and thats why they sucked
lMadeYouAMixTape (6:38:37 PM): they werent stoned
lMadeYouAMixTape (6:38:45 PM): the bass players bass was way out of tune and he didnt have a tuner and couldnt do it by ear
lMadeYouAMixTape (6:38:55 PM): so he asked to borrow someones bass
lMadeYouAMixTape (6:39:03 PM): then when people started pointing out how fucking bad they were they said they were too punk for tuning

All good soldiers crack like boulders
The sun climbs up to a razor,
Violins, new boots, and numbers on a chain
All good soldiers
All good soldiers fall in line
When they march and shout-
Are a spectacle
Marching and singing-
Will go anywhere the president says-
Because the president believes in god-
Like all good soldiers should.
all good soldiers wait like warheads-
When the fighting starts who wil be
accountable
a cannibal
a cannonball?
All good soldiers.

America will not impose our own style of government on the unwilling. - George Walker Bush, January 20th, 2005.

Because our own freedom is enhanced by the expansion of freedom in other nations, I set out the long-term goal of spreading democracy in our world. This will require the commitment of generations. But we're seeing much progress in our own time. - George Walker Bush, January 26th, 2005.

i wish i could sing my heart out
so i could know what it'd be saying
i wish i could look into people 's eyes
so i could know what they'd be saying
i wish i could write poetry with a guitar
so i could be counted for something if anything
i wish i could fade into the chipping beige walls
but not be painted over, dead, dying.
i wish i could be somewhere
so that i would know i still am.
read and you'll judge.

mood: "it's not stupid, it's advanced!"

entry title copyright 2005 sarah fitzgibbons. used without permission.

I had forgiven you for tricking me again.
But I have been tricked again into forgiving you.
What is this?
Are you some kind of hypnotist?
Waving your powers around.
The sun eclipse behind the cloud.
I thought I recognized your face amongst all of those strangers.
But I am stranger now amongst all of the recognized.
What is this?
Are you some kind of hypnotist?
Waving your powers around.
The sun eclipse behind the cloud.

current music: modest mouse - trailer trash
mood: same

Taking heartache with hard work
Goddamn I am such a jerk
I can't do anything
And I shout that you're all fakes
And you should have seen the look on your face
And I guess that's what it takes
When comparing your bellyaches
And it's been a long time
Which agrees with this watch of mine
And I know that I miss you
And I'm sorry that I dissed you

the following are the songs i listen to when i don't want to exist - i.e. now
radiohead - fog
radiohead - how to disappear completely
mogwai - helicon 1
mogwai - may nothing but happiness come
explosions in the sky - magic hours
radiohead - climbing up the walls
modest mouse - the cold part
modest mouse - bankrupt on selling
velvet underground - heroin

.
current music: neutral milk hotel - naomi
mood: indifferent

stefan came over the other day and we watched mr. show and played scattergories intermittently. brownies were had by all.

There's a little child
Running round this house
And he never leaves
He will never leave
And the fog comes up from the sewers
And glows in the dark

Baby alligators in the sewers grow up fast
Grow up fast
Anything you want it can be done
How did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
Somethings will never wash away
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?

"fog" by radiohead (also known as alligators in the sewers or something along those lines) is one of the saddest songs i've ever heard.

current music: mogwai - cody
mood: indifferent

I tried this stupid test again because I forgot what it was about. Here's what I got:

1. 3 (I don't know what this number is)
2. 5 (supposed to be the # of people you send it to)
3. Sarah (the one i love)
4. Chris (the person i care most about)
5. Stefan (the person who knows me very well... true dat)
6. Zoe (lucky star... hmmm)
7. Jansyn (the one i like but can't work out... uh)
8. Modest Mouse - Bury Me w/ It (corresponds with Sarah, definitely
9. Mogwai - Cody (corresponds to Jansyn... interesting)
10. Mogwai - Waltz For Aidan (tells most about my mind... interesting because though it is instrumental that is very true)
11. Radiohead - Bulletproof, I Wish I was (the song that tells how I feel about life... true also)

stupid, but a couple were kind of true

  religion

.
current music: pedro the lion - options
mood: spiritual

Take the Belief-O-Matic Religion Quiz

1. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
2. Theravada Buddhism (93%)
3. Liberal Quakers (90%)
4. Secular Humanism (87%)
5. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (79%)
6. Taoism (69%)
7. Nontheist (65%)
8. Mahayana Buddhism (64%)
9. Neo-Pagan (61%)
10. Bahá'í Faith (47%)
11. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (47%)
12. New Age (45%)
13. Jainism (44%)
14. Orthodox Quaker (42%)
15. New Thought (39%)
16. Hinduism (38%)
17. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (37%)
18. Reform Judaism (35%)
19. Scientology (35%)
20. Sikhism (34%)
21. Jehovah's Witness (31%)
22. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (25%)
23. Seventh Day Adventist (20%)
24. Islam (6%)
25. Orthodox Judaism (6%)
26. Eastern Orthodox (3%)
27. Roman Catholic (3%)

Makes sense for the mose part, I'm an athiest/agnostic/"nonthiest" and consider myself a modern Western Buddhist (more Theravada than Mahayana, the only exception being I don't believe in karma and believe abortion should be legal). I'm surprised Jainism and Reform Judaism aren't higher, because Jainism is close to Therevada Buddhism and I'm Jewish, but very liberal/reform as Jews go. I'm surprised how high Baha'i, Liberal Protestant and Mormonism are because I'm no way a Christian and I particularly detest Mormonism. But other than that, it all makes sense.

speaking of the justice department, looks like our old friend alberto gonzalez is actually under question by the senate for his involvement/condoning of the abu graib prison torture. nice to see those bastards doing their job for once.

strangely, the comments on my blog have become the place for all the cool kids to get together and make fun of each other. again. ah, just like old times. if only they were actually reading my blog.

anyway, the daily show awaits me.

iron and wine's lyrics are absolutely beautiful

.
current music: iron and wine - upward over the mountain
mood: contemplative

mother remember the night that the dog had her pups in the pantry?
blood on the floor & the fleas on their paws
and you cried 'til the morning
so may the sunrise bring hope where it once was forgotten
sons are like birds flying upward over the mountain - "upward over the mountain"

she was born to be
the woman i would know
hold like a breeze
that was tight as both eyes closed - "jezebel"

you're a poem of mystery
you're the prayer inside me
spoken words like moonlight
you're the voice that i like - "fade from the winter"

Tonight, we're the sea and the salty breeze
the milk from your breast is on my lips
and lovelier words from your mouth to me
when salty my sweat and fingertips
Our hands they seek the end of afternoon
My hands believe and move over you
Tonight, we're the sea and
the rhythm there
the waves and the wind and night is black
tonight we're the scent of your
long black hair
spread out like your breath
across my back
Your hands they move like waves over me
beneath the moon, tonight, we're the sea - "sea and the rhythm"

current music: fiery furnaces - sing to me

bush is walking down the street when he sees a little girl with a box. he goes up to the girl and asks her: "what's in the box sweetheart?"
"kittens," replies the little girl.
"what kind of kittens?" asks W kindly.
"republicans!" says the little girl.
"wonderful." says bush.
a week later, bush and cheney are walking down the same road and they see the little girl and her box again. they go over to her and bush says: "dear, tell my good friend what's in the box."
"kittens," says the little girl.
"yes, but what kind?" asks bush.
"libertarians!" says the girl.
"but last time you saif they were republicans..." says bush, very disappointed.
"yes but their eyes are open now!" replies the girl.

ok, maybe i changed it a LITTLE.

soon i'll be off to see a series of unfortunate events. i'll write my resolutions when i return.

mood: extremely fatigued

random thoughts:

i had a fun time tonight w/ stefan and roxy

dancing the night away to the systematics

rocking the kazoo to auld lang syne = very yes

i hate all the cigarette smoke

countless amounts of drunk people went up to me and said "DUDE! I'M SO DRUNK!"

(wow, you are SO cool. because, like, drinking alcohol and embarassing small children is a huge acocmplishment and makes you cool, you know?)

i don't understand what there is to celebrate, 2004 was a pretty terrible year. seems like just an excuse to get drunk. like we need more reasons.

i smell like cigarette smoke now. gross.

btw luna pizza is delicious

i need to take a shower.
